The full collection will be available at retail in the U.S. at ULTA when the partnership is announced and then globally starting in February where OPI products are sold. With every qualifying purchase, U.S. fans can unlock hue-matched, in-game content for Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite starting February 1.
In 2003, OPI launched a nail polish line for dogs called Pawlish that received mixed reviews.[6] In 2007, after pressure from the EPA and the organization Campaign for Safe Cosmetics, OPI reformulated its nail lacquers and eliminated chemicals DBP (dibutyl phthalate), formaldehyde and toluene.[7]
A quality manicure can make you appear to be more polished and put-together, no matter the occasion. Many people feel overwhelmed by all of the nail polish options available on the market today. They find themselves wondering whether OPI nail polish or Essie nail polish is the better option. Which one will wear better over time
The Infinite Shine Long-Wear Nail Polish is ideal if you want your nail polish to last a bit longer. This high-shine polish is similar to a gel application but without the need for LED lights to cure it. Their ProStay Technology should give you up to 11 days of wear.
When it comes to professional-quality nail polish, Essie is a great option. It boasts long wear times, particularly when it comes to their Gel Couture lines. These polishes can last up to two weeks with minimal chipping and wear.
Essie has several products available for those who are serious about their manicures. Their standard polish will last for approximately five to seven days. It comes in an array of colors, from reds and oranges to blues and greens.
If you want your nail polish to last a bit longer, consider going with the Essie Gel Couture. Much like the OPI Infinite Shine, this polish introduces technology that more closely resembles a gel manicure without the need for LED lights. It requires no base coat and lasts for up to 14 days.
Well, the duo was running a dental-supply company, and Schaeffer noticed that nail technicians were buying dental acrylics to make nail extensions. Unimpressed by the scarce and boring polish options available for women at the time, Weiss-Fischmann and Schaeffer realized there was a hole in the beauty market that they could fill.
In this guide, we are sharing why you should consider making the switch to non-toxic nail polish, and giving you all of our favorite non-toxic nail polish brands, including nail polish removers and safer nail polish options for kids!
Unfortunately, it looks like toxins from nail polish do stay in your body long after the polish dries. The chemical TPHP has been found to stay in the body several hours after using polish. The verdict is still out as to whether or not this chemical has any serious long term effects on people, but if you are a regular nail polish user, we have put compiled a list of non- or low-toxic options!
This polish has a formula that is actually designed to nourish and improve the condition of your nails. This is a great polish to start with if you are looking for less toxic options! Unfortunately, at this time, there is no EWG rating available for this polish.
This polish is free of 6 of the most harmful polish chemicals. It comes in a variety of modern colors and tends to last longer than most low-toxin polishes. An EWG rating is not yet available for Cote nail polish.
Zoya is known for its long-lasting wear and non-toxic formula. With over 400 hundred colors to choose from, you will have no trouble finding the perfect color for fall. Zoya nail polish is currently not in the EWG database.
This is a great option for remover because it easily removes polish without that overwhelming obnoxious remover smell. In fact, it actually smells like Lavender! It also has nutrients in it that help condition and protects the nail.
We totally understand! If you want to take one small step towards safer, consider first painting your nail with a safer polish base coat (this is my favorite safer polish base coat). Let that dry (forming a barrier) and then apply your favorite conventional nail polish color on top.
Thank you for all this useful info! How do you feel about Eternal Cosmetics nail polish I recently discovered this brand and they claim to be 12 free. They are extremely affordable and seem to apply well and last.
Thank you for the research. I have used non toxic polish for years because I am extremely sensitive to even a hint of toxins and this gives me some lower priced alternatives to check out. I do bring my own polish to my salon. Have you tested Static Nails or LVX Static Nails uses ingredients that help nails and usually lasts me about 10 days. The LVX does not last as long for me, so I use it less than I did.
Damaged nails can be a common result of frequent nail treatments. That said, a quality nail polish should not damage your nails. Try to pick a polish that is 10-free for fewer abrasive chemicals. Many brands now use gentler ingredients. If past nail polish has caused damage to your nails, Byrdie writer Mandy Zee recommends you tend to them by using a keratin treatment, taking collagen, and soaking them in olive oil.

How can beauty products, intended for such a noble purpose, cause so many health concerns True, permanent hair color, makeup, and nail polish give us an emotional boost and make us feel better about ourselves. Let us make sure, though, that we are not paying for positive emotions with our physical health. Hence, knowing the ingredients of these products is vital in making a safer choice. Today, you will learn about nail polish ingredients, namely those of the OPI nail polish Infinite Shine collection. Read on to find out what position it takes in my Nail Polish Rating List and how safe it is.
Furthermore, to form my opinion about ingredients, including nail polish ingredients, I look into a number of credible sources. They are reports produced by the European Chemicals Agency database, the European Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety, and the US Cosmetic Ingredient Review Panel. Plus, I pay a hefty fee to read animal, clinical, and epidemiological studies in full in the US National Library of Medicine. I also check the opinions of the Environmental Working Group (EWG), and our viewpoints are not always the same. If you use the EWG database, be sure to check out my How to Use the Skin Deep Database the Right Way post.
To begin, in 2006, OPI reformulated its nail polish to remove dibutyl phthalate (DBP). An endocrine disruptor, DBP has a rating of 10 (the most toxic) in the EWG Skin Deep database. OPI also states that its nail polishes do not contain formaldehyde or toluene. But does the absence of these chemicals automatically mean the nail polishes are safe
DBP belongs to a family of chemicals called phthalates, which are added to some plastics to make them flexible. So, how do you know what substitutes to look for Well, it is helpful to understand how nail polishes are made in the first place. For example, what is the function of phthalates in nail polishes, and will nail polishes work without them
To answer the question, as nail polish ingredients, phthalates function as plasticizers, which are chemicals. They are added to plastics to make them softer and pliable so that they do not crack and break easily. In nail polishes, they prevent chips and cracks. Obviously, removing all of them will negatively affect the quality of the product.
So, is it possible that when one phthalate is removed, the one that takes its place is less notorious only because it has less data, or has received less bad press Also, does the removal of one phthalate make the nail polish non-toxic
For starters, solvents are the carriers of the other ingredients and help the nail polish flow smoothly. There are four solvents in the OPI nail polish: ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, isopropyl alcohol, and diacetone alcohol.
According to the European Chemicals Agency database (ECHA), ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, and isopropyl alcohol may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Although these risks are more applicable to occupational settings, it is good to minimize inhalation of these solvents by applying the nail polish in a very well-ventilated room. The EWG rates them as low hazard ingredients as well.
As for diacetone alcohol in the OPI nail polish, the EWG gives it a rating of 1 out of 10. However, the US OSHA lists various respiratory issues and even damage to liver and kidneys. Plus, it limits airborne exposure to 50 ppm over an 8-hour work shift (source). And the Cosmetic Ingredient Review Panel has not reviewed diacetone alcohol for safety yet, due to insufficient data. (This means that there is not much in the medical literature about its short-term and long-term health effects).
On the other hand, in addition to respiratory irritation, the ECHA indicates that diacetone alcohol is suspected of damaging fertility or the unborn child. Pretty serious claim, right Nevertheless, I have not found any confirmation in other sources that it can cause this kind of harm. Aside from reporting these concerns, the ECHA does not mention exposure amounts or the routes of exposure. So, I am not sure whether it can significantly impact fertility or the fetus through an occasional nail polish application. To exercise caution, if you are pregnant or trying to conceive, you might want to stay away from nail salons. 59ce067264
